Dignan Porch-Sad Shape
While I admit that I didn’t give the debut effort of this band the attention that it probably deserved they’ve definitely won me over now. Maybe it has something to do with that Captured Tracks charm that I just can’t deny but whatever it might be I do know that the London based solo project of Joe Walsh, Dignan Porch has now expanded into a five piece and they’ve just made a new fan. “Sad Shape" is the third single released from their sophomore LP Nothing Bad Will Ever Happen which drops on August 14th and every time I listen to this track I seem to lose myself for the entire duration. It starts off as a slowly uplifiting indie tune and quickly turns into a song wrapped up in deep psychedelia that could’ve easily been the result of a drug induced haze. Also, I don’t know if there’s any relevance at all but the name Dignan instantly reminds me of Owen Wilson’s character in Bottle Rocket and for that I love this band a little bit more. Check out the videos for “Pink Oil" and "Picking Up Dust”, the other two singles off of Nothing Bad Will Ever Happen, by visiting the band’s youtube channel and stop by their bandcamp page to stream and purchase older material (including the debut Tendrils) for various prices.
