Summer Twins-Teardrops on My Pillow
If you haven’t heard of California record and cassette label Burger Records then you might want to visit their website after you read this post. The label features a slew of artists who play raw, in your face rock n roll, psychedelic rock, punk, and everything in between and it has surely grown to be one of my favorites within the last few months. I was browsing their soundcloud earlier looking for new artists and that’s when I came across the sister duo of Justine and Chelsea Brown who make up the group Summer Twins. They just dropped a self-titled LP back in January and I’m completely smitten with their heavy 60’s pop sound and garage rock influences. It’s a great addition to any music collection and it’s certainly full of those warm, summer vibes that we all seem to love around this time of year. Vocally I’m reminded of Zooey Deschanel at times but these ladies sing with a lot more heart and feeling in my opinion. You can purchase the album on bandcamp for $10 and pick up their debut EP The Good Things while you’re there for free.
