London shoegaze four piece and Cassette Rewind blog favorites Honeyslide are gearing up to release their debut self titled EP which will be available via bandcamp digitally and through a limited run of 100 cassette tapes as well on July 27.
The band has been compared to the likes of classic groups such as Slowdive, Galaxie 5000, and even The Pixies but all comparisons aside, they certainly have their own way of crafting unforgettably beautiful songs.

With every track on the EP Honeyslide demonstrates a raw energy and emotion that pulls the listener in and holds their attention until the very end. It’s a journey through melodic waves of lo-fi haziness that’s built on heavy shoegaze atmospheres and carried along by subtle grunge like tendencies. Fans of the genre and newcomers alike both have something to thoroughly enjoy and you’d surely be mistaken if you were to purposely skip out on this release.

Honeyslide will be having their EP release show @ The Shacklewell Arms in London with My Boy/My Girl, Sealings, and OLD FOREST so all of my followers in the area should definitely go check it out. The admission is free and it lasts from 8pm-3am and with a roster like that you couldn’t really ask for more.

Sickly

Honeyslide-Sickly

Whenever a band that I thoroughly enjoy releases new material it’s like I’m finally getting a long awaited gift that I’d been hoping for, and while it may not be quite the same as when I got my N64 back in ‘98, it’s pretty damn close. By now I’m sure you all know how much I love shoegaze and if you’ve been following the blog for a bit then you probably remember my post on London four piece Honeyslide. Well I’ve got good news and it’s called “Sickly”, the latest single from their upcoming self titled EP. The group definitely knows how to create songs that’re downright stunning and it’s clear by the way this track torpidly flows along in all of it’s fuzzy, lo-fi glory. Look out for Honeyslide to drop their debut EP sometime in Mid-July and while you wait head over to soundcloud to listen to the rest of their material.

Drippin'

Honeyslide-Drippin’

I can’t recall exactly how I came across this band but I’ve been playing their two songs ep on soundcloud ever since earlier today. The band goes by Honeyslide, a four piece from London and I’m absolutely mesmerized. I love when artists today can channel the sounds of an earlier time through their music and that’s exactly what Honeyslide has done. Lately it seems like fresh shoegaze groups are few and far between but “Drippin” gives me hope that the genre can still remain strong. The song opens with a slow, grunge type feel and then everything quickly turns fuzzy and continues to flow along with a moderate pace. While the vocals can be indistinguishable that adds to the hazy, romantic vibe of the track and when it’s over you’re left feeling as if could’ve all been a dream. I certainly hope that this band records more soon but for now I have “Drippin” and “I Do” to tie me over.
