GUEST POST: PERFECT MIDNIGHT WORLD

Over the years I’ve developed a sort of routine where I randomly select tracks for a playlist that help me get into an Autumn frame of mind. The autumn months being my favorite time of year, it also tends to fall alongside my best creative output, so whatever I can do to mimic that feeling helps spur along a little extra something, I suppose. This is a handful of songs from that playlist which sort of welcomes me into that beloved time of year, as well as informs a project that I’m currently working on, so it’s a double win for my ears and brain.

Breeze Pt.2

CASSETTE REWIND: BREEZE PT. 2

Here’s the second part of my “summer” mixtape called Breeze. At first I was going to go with a slower feel for the tracks to counter the upbeat sounds of part one but as I was picking songs I decided to abandon that idea. It’s got a little bit of everything and I’m excited to finally post this for all of you. I’m starting to get kind of lazy with these descriptions so just enjoy what you hear and check the links to listen to more from the artists. Show your support any way that you can and feel free to like and reblog. Hopefully this mix will make the crazy heat outside more bearable and if you’re just hibernating inside then kick back, chill, and let it take you away.

Indoor Voices-38 Stories

Often times I’ll listen to an album or song and one thought that comes to mind is “why didn’t I hear this sooner?”. I’ve always said two of the best things about music is how diverse it can be and how much of it there is but with that being said it usually takes a certain something for a band’s sound to really hit me. Despite not being sure what that “certain something” is exactly, I do know that Toronto five piece Indoor Voices seem to have this mysterious vibe surrounding them and it definitely works . The band released their Nevers LP last year and without a doubt they’ve crafted a work of beauty and wonder. Indoor Voices combine an atmospheric shoegaze style with post rock rhythms that make the listener feel as if they’re floating through space. Each track on Nevers has it’s own distinct feel and they all flow together amazingly. You can grab the LP by naming your own price on bandcamp or by paying $11.99 to have your own psychical copy shipped to you. Also, don’t forget to check them out on soundcloud as well.
