JSHIH - Interval

JSHIH-Annie

One thing that’s great about new music is the possibility of a new favorite artist or track coming out of whatever you’re listening to. There’s always an element of suspense that comes along with experiencing things for the first time and as I made my way through Interval, the debut Chill Mega Chill release from Orlando producer JSHIH, I found myself anxiously awaiting every turn and loving every minute of it. Interval is a meticulously pieced work of cosmic bound textures that’s wrapped up and pleasantly delivered in the form of warm, reverberating electronics and laid back, sensual r&b tendencies and once it enters your ears, it’ll be damn near impossible to forget. Sadly all of the cassette copies are sold out but you can still grab the album digitally, and I highly suggest that you do, by heading over bandcamp and paying a “name your own” price. Also, don’t forget to visit JSHIH on soundcloud to hear more material.

Obsession

Magic Fades - Obsession

Magic Fades-Obsession

I was first introduced to the steamy r&b sounds of Portland duo Magic Fades earlier this year when I heard their track “I’ll Adjust” on their Young Latitudes split with Veracom and ever since then I’ve been drawn to everything that these two have put out. There’s no question about it that r&b has been quite a popular thing this year, both in the “mainstream” and underground, but the magical thing about Magic Fades is that their approach to the genre never falls short of coming off as ardent, smooth, and seductive. The duo is getting ready to release their debut LP Obsession on January 8th via Mishka and earlier today they dropped the title track from the album to get all of us fans ready for what’s to come. You may notice that the track samples Brandy and Monica’s ‘98 hit “The Boy Is Mine” and while I never thought that I’d hear that anytime soon, Magic Fades makes it work completely in their favor. There’s an enticing, lascivious nature surrounding “Obsession” that makes it irresistible right from the start and to be honest, after playing this song about a dozen or so times today, I couldn’t be anymore stoked on this album than I already am. Check out Magic Fades on soundcloud to hear more material while you’re getting ready for Obsession to drop and if you haven’t yet, swing by their bandcamp page to grab the four track release She Beat All The Haters for a name your own price.

Do You Remember?

Mosaicc - What Happened?

Mosaicc-Do You Remember?

There are some songs that just seem to do everything right and get better with each play and that’s exactly how I feel about the latest track from Mosaicc titled “Do You Remember?”. Though he may be regarded as somewhat of a newcomer with his debut EP This Is having dropped back in May, 19 year old Virginia resident Bradd Haynes aka Mosaicc, is one artist that I wish I would’ve discovered a lot sooner than yesterday. His brand new EP What Happened was released a few days ago and despite it only being two tracks long, Haynes still manages to create gleaming works of synth driven pop that sway with a tender romantic nature and appeal while enveloping the listener in a blanket of emotion and vivid textures. You can grab What Happened along with This Is over on bandcamp by paying a “name your own” price and if you want to hear even more material from Mosaicc then visit him on soundcloud.

Love 2 Love U

Jogging House - Longings EP

Jogging House-Love 2 Love U

I’ve been following Germany r&b project Jogging House for a few months now and since I wore out their last EP, Relations, I’ve been eagerly waiting for some new material to drift throughout my ears. Luckily, I won’t have to wait too much longer because yesterday Jogging House posted a few new tracks from his upcoming Longings EP and it’s scheduled to drop on December 17th. Look at it as an early Christmas present or a pre apocalypse gift, but either way it’s still something to look forward to. “Love 2 Love U” is the opening track from the upcoming release and though it shows Jogging House in a slightly familiar element, that’s not a bad thing at all. The track immediately places listeners in a warm, amorous atmosphere with it’s vibrant yet subtle nature and angelic, childlike vocal loops and as it coasts along on crisp beats and dreamy synth lines, you can’t help but to feel a sense of tranquility. Be sure to follow Jogging House on soundcloud to hear more and if you haven’t yet, check out his bandcamp page and grab his two previous EPs, Relations and Foreplay, for a “name your own” price.

Room Enough

Lindsay Lowend -

Lindsay Lowend-Room Enough

I unintentionally took a little break from posting but now that I’m back, I’ve got a track that will make up for my brief absence. I came across Washington’s Lindsay Lowend a few weeks ago when I heard his track “Glacial” on KEATS//COLLECTIVE VOL.2 and ever since I’ve been a bit addicted to his overall distinctive and smooth sound. “Room Enough” eases in slowly but it quickly changes pace as it bursts open with an undeniably sleek vocal loop and wraps the listener up in layers of dazzling, glitchy synth lines and sensual undertones. The tension between R&B tenderness and hip hop grittiness makes the track that much more enjoyable and if you’re anything like me then I’m sure that you’ll be putting it on repeat as soon as it’s finished. If you want to check out more material from Lindsay Lowend then head over to soundcloud. Your ears will be grateful for it.

GUEST MIX: LET’S MAKE OUT
Steven Hernandez, better known by his alias Let’s Make Out, won me over earlier this year with his smooth yet casual hip hop style and since he’s getting ready to drop his second mixtape “Make Out Music Vol. 2” sometime soon, I wanted to get a glimpse of the kind of music that he’s been into lately. Last week he put together a few tracks for this second guest mix and it’s a definite pick me up if you’re going through that typical Monday slump or if you just want something to vibe to. Be sure to follow Let’s Make Out on soundcloud & give him a like on facebook as well to keep updated. Check out what Steven had to say about the mix and prepare to chill to the max.
