Every now and then you might come across a band that just sticks out and stays in your head for all of the right reasons and when you first hear that track that hits way harder than expected, the feeling can be irreplaceable and unforgettable. Last year I was introduced to the Baltimore six piece known as Secret Mountains with their track “Rejoice” and from that moment on their hazy, atmospheric blend of dream pop, shoegaze, and psychedelic rock has been something that’s kept me completely captivated. A few weeks ago their guitarist Jeffrey Silverstein contacted me about doing a guest mix and since I love the diversity that they bring to the blog, I couldn’t possibly decline. Below you’ll find sixteen tracks that were compiled to propel you into a beautiful unknown filled with perplexities and vivid surroundings and it’s things such as this mix that reminds me of just how wondrous music can be.
Secret Mountains will be releasing their debut LP, Rainer, on February 26th via Friends Records and if you haven’t yet then I’d definitely recommend pre-ordering a copy here. You can hear “Coasting”, the first single from the album, here and if you want to check out more material from the band then you can do so by heading over to their soundcloud.
