Mygirl

Teeel - Under The Mountain 2

Teeel-MyGirl

Today has been a good day so far. Not only is the autumn weather finally setting in, but UK producer Star Slinger dropped a new track as well. I thought that that’d be it as far as new jams but then I saw that Teeel released a new track as well and I began to jump and shout (on the inside). I don’t have to say too much when it comes to talking about the alias of Jim Smith because his music does an extremely good job of speaking for itself. His latest track “MyGirl” comes from the Moodgadget Records and ISO50 comp titled Under The Mountain 2 and it gives us just a taste of their upcoming showcase in Brooklyn which will be happening tomorrow @ The Grasslands. Teeel lends his trademark sci-fi esque sound along with some upbeat 80’s pop vibes to the compilation but the fun doesn’t stop with “MyGirl”. Under The Mountain 2 also includes tracks from Beacon, Braille, Foxes in Fiction and a few others so do yourself a favor and grab this short but sweet collection of electronic ear magic for free here. You can also check out info on the showcase and purchase tickets while you’re there.

Com Truise-Yxes

Yesterday Seth Haley aka Com Truise dropped his latest album In Decay, which happens to be a trip down synthesizer heaven through 13 compilation tracks of demos and other unreleased songs. In true Com Truise fashion the release doesn’t disappoint at all and if anything it just proves the fact that Haley is extremely proficient in his craft. I’m just coming across the video for one of the tracks from the LP titled “Yxes” (that’s sexy spelled backwards) and it’s exactly what you’d expect. Not that that’s a bad thing though. It’s enveloped by a slightly dark and mysterious sci-fi nature and it provides a excellent visual for the song. I’d recommend picking up In Decay in stores or online but if you can’t then it’s available for streaming over on prefixmag and through spotify as well.

Open

Com Truise - In Decay

Com Truise-Open

New Jersey producer Seth Haley, who’s better known under his alias of Com Truise is back, sort of. On July 17th Haley will be dropping a follow up album to the sexual 80’s VHS dance party we know and love as Galactic Melt and this time around it’s a compilation under the name In Decay. While I’m not usually big on these kind of releases, I can’t help but to gravitate to anything Com Truise puts out and since the album will be made up of early demos and picked from his slew of online originated material this is something that I’ve surely got to get my hands on. “Open” is the intro track from In Decay and it has got me completely mesmerized with it’s retro, sci-fi esque groove. Haley may very well be a synthesizer wizard as far as I’m concerned and come next month I’m sure he’ll have us all under his spell once again.

Heights

BOYWITHOUTMEMORY - Heights

BOYWITHOUTMEMORY-Heights

Well, it’s that time again when I start digging through the digital crates of bandcamp for some more quality ear magic. It seems that I’m in a sort of musical time machine tonight so it’s only fitting that I’d post something with such a strong 80’s atmosphere. The track comes from Belgium artist Sebastian Fishbeck, the mind behind BOYWITHOUTMEMORY. Earlier this year he released his debut ep Heights which consists of four dazzling songs wrapped up in smooth new wave atmospheres that were made to make you get off of your feet and dance. The title track is a retro gem that’s driven by a heavy use of pulsating synths and Fishbeck’s peculiar vocal style. You can stream Heights in it’s entirety over on soundcloud or purchase it via bandcamp for around $5. While you’re there don’t forget to check out some other great bands that’re also signed to the Romance Moderne record label. Recommended for fans of Cut Copy, Mirror Kisses, and Bear In Heaven.

Perpetual Surrender

D I A N A -

D I A N A-Perpetual Surrender

The wonderful folks at Hearing Gold have struck gold again and without them I wouldn’t have heard of this next artist. D I A N A hails from Canada and though there isn’t much information to be gathered on them (him/her) I’ve quickly become a fan. With laid back grooves, glossy synths, and seductive vocals I feel like I’m in musical heaven and that’s saying a lot seeing as how there are only two tracks up on soundcloud. “Perpetual Surrender” carries a slight jazz vibe that’s driven by a sensual, romantic feel while “Born Again” is more upbeat and funky with a sound that easily could’ve came straight out of the 70’s. Whoever is behind D I A N A can stay shrouded in mystery for as long as they’d like because it totally works but regardless I’m hoping that we can all hear more in the near future.

Purple Melody

Cosmic Sound-Purple Melody

I’m loving everything about this next artist and without Dwight over at the label Crash Symbols I wouldn’t have been able to have this great album on my laptop. If you aren’t familiar with CS then you certainly should be. They’ve signed a number of talented bands and since I haven’t heard of most of them I was introduced to tons of great new music. Anyways, a few days ago I found VHS Vision in my inbox and after a few plays I gained one of the top releases to hit my ears this month. The EP is from Stephen Farris, a producer out of Texas who now makes music under his own name but at the time went by Cosmic Sound. Let me get to the point which is VHS Visions is a nine track adventure through synth heaven and if you can’t take my word for it, Com Truise even gave it a thumbs up. “Purple Melody” just slightly touches on the fact that Farris definitely knows his way around a synthesizer and has a knack for blending together retro, gleaming sounds with equally stunning atmospheres. You can stream the EP over at bandcamp or soundcloud but I’d suggest while you’re on bandcamp that you check out some of the other artists that Crash Symbols has to offer.
