Divide And

Top Girls-Divide And

When it comes to the sultry, intricately constructed ambient sounds of North Carolina’s Evan Adams, better known under the alias Top Girls, the mood always seems to be set just right. Submersed in a deep sea of crackling reverb and enrapturing falsetto vocals, Top Girls’ distinctive style doesn’t take long to leave an impression and though his latest EP, Pretty Tears, doesn’t tread too much new ground, Adams’ prominent sense of texture alone is remarkable. Be sure to pick up Pretty Tears over on bandcamp for $3 along with a slew of other material as well.

Rashad (Loose Pace)

Guerre -

Guerre-Rashad (Loose Pace)

Delicately stitching together sleek, downtempo vocals with layers of smoother than smooth R&B harmonies and plenty of swirling ambiance, Sydney’s Guerre has been making a mark ever since he came onto the scene earlier this year. Often times his music carries a slightly dark/ lo-fi quality to it but regardless, it never ceases to be anything short of amazing and beautiful in every sense of the word. Guerre is no stranger to music blogs and after hearing his latest track “Rashad (Loose Pace)” I figured it was about time that I joined in on giving hype where hype is due. Once again, Guerre draws listeners into his seductive world which is built upon crisp beats, gentle yet booming percussion, and of course his soothing falsetto vocal style. It starting to seem to me like the Sydney resident can’t do any wrong but if you need a bit more convincing then you can head over to YES PLEASE’s bandcamp or Guerre’s personal bandcamp to hear and purchase more material. You can also download “Rashad (Loose Pace)” for free and be sure to look out for the B-side “Qwashina” to drop sometime in November. Recommended for fans of The Weekend and Top Girls.

FLUX

CASSETTE REWIND: FLUX

Originally this was my fourth mixtape but since I decided to not post Beamz anymore it’s now my third instead. There’s some greenville local talent to be heard from two producers that I know work hard and love their craft, Brooks Brackett & Rich Engli$h. Furthermore there’s a wonderful cover of The Weeknd’s “The Morning” by SASKATCHEWAN, a personal favorite of mine. Other artists include TOP GIRLS, Lemonade, Moon Bounce, PERSONA LA AVE who does great work with an Aaliyah sample, and a lot more. As always support the artists any way you can and feel free to like and reblog!

Remember

Top Girls - Carolina

Top Girls-Remember

Every time I see that Top Girls (Evan Adams) drops a new song I get overjoyed and I have to stop whatever I’m doing at that moment to take a listen. Adams definitely has his own unique flair and it never disappoints with any track that he works on. Yesterday he released a fresh sensual gem titled “Remember” and I honestly can’t get enough. The track is enveloped by a voluptuous atmosphere that flows along nicely with it’s lustrous synths, hypnotic beats, and enticing R&B esque vocals that easily set the mood just like any other Top Girls material. You can grab “Remember” by paying whatever price you choose on bandcamp and while you’re there be sure to check out “Getting Closer” along with the RISE EP and a slew of other singles that’re available for various amounts. Carolina, the debut LP from Top Girls, is due out on July 10th so don’t forget tomark your calendars.

Ocean Floor For Everything

How To Dress Well - Total Loss

How To Dress Well-Ocean Floor For Everything

When I think of what all I can say about this track I find that I’m a bit of loss for words. Just a few days ago I made a tweet about how I wanted another album from Tom Krell and in the next few months to come I’ll finally have that in the form of a sophomore LP titled Total Loss. If you’re not familiar with Krell he’s a philosophy graduate student who just happens to be the brainchild of the breathtaking r&b and lo fi infused project that is How To Dress Well. In my opinion he helped to start the 80’s and 90’s r&b revival that artists like Active Child, The Weeknd, and Top Girls are known for so it’s only right to say that he’s one of the best in the genre. “Ocean Floor For Everything” does everything right and in true HTDW fashion it doesn’t disappoint at all. I only found this song about an hour ago and already I’ve played it through about five or six times. So to say that I’m ecstatic for this release would be an understatement. For now you can listen to more material over on soundcloud and stream his recent Just Once EP along with his amazing debut LP Love Remains via spotify.
