Breeze Pt.1

CASSETTE REWIND: BREEZE PART 1

Since summer is here I’ve decided to put together a nice two part series for the season. While some of these tracks might not be strictly made for the summer I still think they’re great regardless and they carry the vibes of the warm weather. The series is called Breeze (I didn’t too creative with the title) and this is the first part. I decided to stick with a constant upbeat feel and as for part two things will be more slowed down. I hope you all dig this as much as my past mixes and be sure to look out for the second one in early next month. Like always, support the artists however you can and feel free to like and reblog. Have a great summer!

Lost Control

Buzz Kull - Lost Control EP

Buzz Kull-Lost Control

Maybe it’s from the severe lack of sleep but whatever the reason, I needed something good and dark to pick me up this morning. Thanks to Madrid based record label, Young Latitudes I’ve found just that in their fifth and latest release. The label has definitely been working their magic on my ears with their diverse set of artists and Sydney two piece Buzz Kull are no exception. Their debut EP Lost Control is a two track work of ominous shoegaze sounds that could’ve easily fit their way onto the soundtrack of an old school horror flick. The title track “Lost Control” carries an eerie, fast paced vibe with slight industrial undertones while “I Disappear” has more of a slow, melancholy feel that seems to echo in your head. You can grab both tracks for free on bandcamp along with material from other Young Latitudes artists such as Magic Fades, Tours, Western Walk, and more. Don’t forget to check them on soundcloud as well.

I'll Adjust - Magic Fades

Magic Fades-I’ll Adjust

Whether moderately old or fresh and just getting started, there are so many quality record labels out there putting out music from a wide variety of talented artists. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with all of the new music constantly being released but regardless it proves to be worth it. Having just started back in April the label Young Latitudes has already delivered plenty of great tunes for my library . Earlier this month they dropped two fresh tracks from Tours in the form of “Grand Lux” and “Drift About” and today they’ve given us even more ear magic with the I’ll Adjust/ ST()NE split from Magic Fades and Veracom. Magic Fades is a dark pop/R&B duo out of Portland and despite not knowing that they existed until today it didn’t take much for me to become a fan of their music. “I’ll Adjust” is their newest single that manifests itself as something that’s both tenebrous and charming. It’s driven by haunting 80’s sounding synths and sensual pop melodies wrapped up in a glimmering ambiance. You can pick up the split over at Young Latitudes bandcamp page or on their soundcloud for free.

Anymals | Kids Grow Better Under The Sun

Anymals-Kids Grow Better Under The Sun

Believe it or not youtube can be a great way to come across new music, despite all of the people who post videos trying to land their 15 minutes of fame. While I was recently watching the video for “Grand Lux” by Tours I discovered a chillwave artist from France who goes by the name of Anymals. Though Anymals only has one song posted on soundcloud right now it’s certainly a great start and “Kids Grow Better Under The Sun” has me eager to hear more. The track opens with warm synths and a funky bassline which help develop it into a bright, chillwave gem once more layers (including a loop of children laughing) come into play. With a wonderful feel good vibe, it’s very easy to relax to and in my opinion it couldn’t have come at a better time than the beginning of the summer season. Recommended for fans of The Pillars of Creation, Sloslylove, and Brothertiger.
